Since 1989, the museum has housed a small collection by the artist Solari from Fray Bentos. The much older building, which is also well worth seeing, has a checkered history behind it.

At the back of the building is the "Plaza De La Mujer" (Women's Square), which can also be entered directly from Calle Brasil. Here people are commemorated who have made outstanding contributions to the rights of women in Uruguay.
