For more than fifty years, there has been a decline in the exploitation of orchards. Fruit trees are disappearing and with them, part of our cultural history, landscape aesthetics and biological diversity. The establishment of the “Barteshaus” conservatory orchard aims to limit this development. In 2005, 110 fruit trees of different varieties were planted at the rate of two specimens per species. The purpose of the conservatory orchard is to maintain the typical regional varieties of apples and pears.
