Until the 1960s, before the “Am Entenweiher” park (see panel 6) was landscaped, the Rodau flowed relatively straight from the Urberach mills (see panel 4 “Obermühle” and panel 7 “Untermühle”) to here Messenhauser Street. Here at the "Rodauknie" the Rodau turned at a sharp right angle in the direction of Ober-Roden through the Röder meadows (today the Badehaus site). In front of the bend in the Rodau, coming from the Messenhäuser Berg, a drainage ditch flowed into the Rodau, which often flooded the street and also the "Lange Brück" during thunderstorms and heavy rain.
