Located just off the road, this tomb is definitely worth seeing. Architecture dating back to times long before the birth of Christ, and long before anybody even knew anything about the Romans. Civilization is quite different than we experience it day by day. Definitely worth seeing for anyone who is historically and historically interested.

The giant tomb of Coddu 'Ecchju is a magnificent example of nuragic funerary architecture.

It is an imposing communal tomb that probably housed the deceased from the nearby village of La Prisgiona.

The monument, which dates back to the Bronze Age, was erected in two construction phases: the exedra was attached to a monument built around 1800 BC. (probably between 1600 and 1400 BC) erected gallery tomb (10.50 m long) or a semi-circular space delimited by a series of slabs set into the ground with a large domed stele (4.04 m high) in the center, decorated with a relief frame and equipped with a small door at the base, probably used to place offerings inside the tomb.

The deceased was probably buried from above by removing one of the slabs covering the corridor.

The tomb body was enclosed in a large mound of earth and stones that encompassed the area behind the exedra, which had the practical function of housing the mound itself, but also demarcated the ceremonial space where rites honoring the ancestors were performed, the offerings, as evidenced by the numerous pottery vessels found in the area.

The cult of ancestors was of great importance in the Nuragic culture.

Beautiful nuragic giants' tomb, not far from Arzachena, set in a beautiful landscape with orchards. It is not far from the Arzachena-Luogosanto road.
