Saint Kilian, known as the Apostle of the Franks, stands on the pillar rising from the market fountain. In his hands he carries a sword and the bishop's crook, on his head he has a miter (bishop's hat). The market fountain, also sometimes referred to as the Kiliansbrunnen, is located on Marktstrasse, between the Old Main Bridge and the town hall. This fountain should not be overlooked when visiting Kitzingen.

Hiking

The St. Kilians fountain on the market square in Kitzingen dates from the 18th century. St Kilian was a 7th-century Irish itinerant preacher and missionary bishop. He is considered one of the three apostles of the Franks and is said to have died as a martyr by the sword. In art, he is therefore usually depicted with a sword and crosier as his attributes.

Hiking

It is worth making a detour to Kitzingen. In winter you can marvel at one of the largest Advent candles. In summer you can drink a Franconian wine on the Main promenade on the little house side from Thursday to Sunday and enjoy the view of Kitzingen at dusk
