Church of Holy Trinity in Kołbaskowo
Medieval Kołbaskowo, today located on the Polish-German border, has preserved the character of a Slavic oval village with a church in the middle. The pedigree of the settlement is confirmed by a document in which Prince Barnim I in 1243 grants the surrounding lands as an endowment to the Cistercian monastery from Szczecin. In 1286, the monastery acquired the ownership of the village and, most likely, then the construction of the first House of God began. According to the sources, in 1304, the Cistercian nuns of Szczecin took patronage over it. The late Romanesque temple was a rectangular room and originally had no tower. This half-timbered structure was added only during the modernization in the 18th century. In 1950, the church was reconsecrated, and on June 1, 1951, the parish of the Holy Trinity was erected here.
The rather narrow interior is covered with a wooden beam ceiling. The presbytery, raised slightly upwards, houses a Baroque altar from the 18th century. Moreover, the church has a wooden Gothic gallery and two bells from 1600 and 1705.
