The remaining buildings and facilities of the former Royal Military Railway (K.M.E.) are not only visible witnesses of the history of the military railway, but also of the rapid development of the railway system in Prussia, which began with the opening of the railway line from Berlin to Potsdam in 1838 .

A few meters away is a spacious and comfortable rest area and the skater route leads through an old bridge of the Jüterbog-Luckenwalder district railway.

After 1919, as part of the Versailles Treaty, operations as a military railway were ended. In the fall of 1919, the Berlin Railway Directorate initially took over operations up to Jüterbog, while the administration of K.M.E. was continued by the settlement office of the military railway. From April 1920, the Reich Ministry of Transport was responsible, the section between Berlin and Zossen was shut down and gradually dismantled. The route from Zossen to Jüterbog, on the other hand, was used for civilian passenger transport. From 1923, operations on this route were maintained by the Deutsche Reichsbahn. The final decommissioning of the route last operated by Deutsche Bahn took place in sections in 1996 and 1998. The remaining buildings and facilities of the K.M.E. were placed under monument protection in the district of Teltow-Fläming in 2002. Part of the tracks is now used as a handcar route.
