According to the book series "Schönwald - Fichtelgebirge - Contributions to local history, part: From the Schönwalder school history", the town hall was built between the years 1880 and 1882.
On November 15, 1882, the school building could be occupied. Until 1928 it served as the lower school building and later as the middle school building.
In 1928/29 it was rebuilt as the town hall.
