‘Der Korenmarkt’ is the street name of the street that connects the Appelhaven with the main port. The street is next to a canal that contains two small bridges that are now official monuments of the city. The canal was built in 1558 to provide better access to the warehouses on the street that used to be used to store grain. In Dutch, “Koren” means “grain”, which is where most warehouses stored grain.
