The Wentalweible is a legendary rock that is also the landmark of the Wental.
According to legend, it got its name from an old woman from Steinheim. It was said that she was very stingy and hard-hearted until one day she was caught in a bad storm on her way home. There she was struck by lightning, which turned her into stone forever - the Wentalweible has stood in the rocky gorge ever since.
Long ago, men demonstrated their courage by climbing it, but today no climbing is allowed.
