The Thyra is formed in the Harz in the center of Stolberg in the Harz by the confluence of the three mountain streams Große Wilde, Kleine Wilde and Lude.Initially it flows through Stolberg, where several streams flow into it, and runs south through a narrow valley to Rottleberode, where the Krebsbach flows into it. Here the Thyra valley becomes quite wide, and the Thyra turns southeast from then on. South of Uftrungen, where the Haselbach flows into it, it becomes narrower, and the Thyra flows out of the Harz into the Goldene Aue in the southern Harz foothills. It passes through Bösenrode and Berga.Shortly afterwards, the river flows directly below the main dam of the Kelbra dam into the Helme, a tributary of the Unstrut coming from the west.Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thyra_(Fluss)
