Storsteinen is Tromsø's local mountain, which is located in the district of Tromsdalen. The mountain reaches a height of 421 meters, offering wide and spectacular views over Tromsø, the fjords and the surrounding islands. Fjellheisen is the name of the cable car (modernized in 2016) that leads directly up to the Storsteinen, where the viewing platform and restaurant (Fjellstua) are located. In November 2022, the ride (up and down) for an adult cost around EUR 35 (fjellheisen.no), but unfortunately I forgot my spikes, so I could hardly take a step - just the breathtaking view enjoy.

The cable car starts at Solliveien in Tromsdalen and takes four minutes up to Storsteinen, 421 meters above sea level. Take the shortcut to fantastic views of the city and the Northern Lights - this is the best place to see the Northern Lights in Tromsø. But the view of Tromsø in daylight is also breathtaking.
