On August 18, 1951, Mother Speranza, founder of the Servants of Merciful Love or also known as Speranza di Gesù Alhama Valera, settled in Collevalenza to build a sanctuary.
The project of the sanctuary was entrusted to the Spanish architect Julio Lafuente and the construction of the complex began in 1953. When the upper church was completed in 1965, it was solemnly consecrated by Cardinal Alfredo Ottaviani, while the rest of the complex was completed in 1974.
