The cross was donated in 1819 by a Countess Chorinski in gratitude for the rescue from a shipwreck with a wedding party in front of the rock.
Today we know that the Countess donated this cross as divine help for the dangerous profession of boatmen at the waterfall.
In 1981 the cross was renewed by citizens of Desselbrunner.
