The Hunza Valley is a mountainous valley in the northern part of the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, formed by the Hunza River at an elevation of about 2,400 m. The valley is famous for its people and mountains. Visitors come to Hunza just to get a view of the shining ice wall of the Rakaposhi Mountain.
The valley is popularly believed to be the inspiration for the mythical valley of Shangri-La in James Hilton's 1933 novel, Lost Horizon.
