The lagoon of La Mata forms, together with the lagoon of Torrevieja, the natural park of the Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja. This salt mine was one of the largest salt export centers in the Mediterranean since the 15th century. Here you can observe a large number of birds, such as flamingos, avocets and stilts.
