Egå Church was built in the 12th century in Romanesque style. The original church consisted only of a nave and chancel. The arched windows were later bricked up, but traces of them can still be seen on the north and east sides of the church. Originally the church had a wooden ceiling.
Around the year 1500 the Gothic tower made of monk stone was added to the church. At about the same time, the porch was extended and the wooden ceiling replaced with a vault.

The Egå Church is a simple fieldstone church from the 12th century, Romanesque in its core, later supplemented with a Gothic tower. It stands slightly elevated above Egå and, with its clear, unadorned structure, appears almost Nordic-severe.
The walled-up north door and the compact choir emphasize its medieval origin, while the tower draws the eye to the open landscape.
