The oldest and architecturally most appealing part is the early Gothic choir from the second half of the 13th century. It is built of brick over a granite block base, has a straight closure, and is still characterized by Romanesque features: corner pilasters, groups of three windows, and the surrounding "German Band" (a decorative frieze).
