Such water wheels have been around since the 15th century. They were used to irrigate the meadows in dry Franconia. Today, electric pumps are used for this purpose. The historic water wheels are lovingly maintained by clubs, taken out and dismantled in the autumn and carefully reassembled and used again in the spring. According to the "Baiersdorf Water Regulations" from 1693, parts of which are still valid today, they may only be operated from May 1 to September 30.
