It is said that Tillegem originated as part of the royal domain Snellegem. Presumably only in the course of the 12th century - and at the latest in the 13th century - it was ceded by the count of Flanders to the lord of Voormezele in exchange for the tithe income of the canons of Sint-Donaas. Tillegem Castle dates back to a 14th-century moated castle that was redecorated in the 1870s in the typical neo-Gothic style.

Very nice and quite parc. Too bad the water surrounding the castle is now full of green alguae, it was so nice before.
