The Merkenveld (sometimes also spelled: Merkemveld) is a forest and recreational area in the West Flemish municipality of Zedelgem, located on the territory of Zedelgem, Veldegem and especially Loppem. It is located directly east of the hamlet of De Leeuw.The Merkenveld joins the domain of Baesveld Castle (20 ha), private forests (22 ha) and the Doeveren nature reserve (57 ha), bringing the total area to approximately 110 ha. The Merkenveld, over 18 hectares, was purchased by the municipality of Zedelgem in the 1980s and has since been known as the Merkemveld Municipal Domain. The area is flowed by the Kerkebeek.
