Hiking
Werderland is mostly below the flood level of the surrounding rivers. Dikes were built to protect these areas from flooding. The landscape is characterized by wet meadows that are drained by ditches. Some parts are covered by long-term flooded swampy forests. The nature of Werderland, which is particularly rich in species, is largely under protection. Grazing areas were established to preserve the landscape to discourage the growth of bushes and shrubs.
