People born in the 1960s and 1970s do not need to be explained what vehicles are immortalized in this image. Younger children may have trouble identifying, especially a white car. This is Syrena 105 - the fruit of the Polish technical thought of the communist era. Mermaids were produced in 1957-83.

It is difficult for young people to imagine it today, but in the 1960s hardly anyone had a car in county towns. In my place of origin, a private car was owned by a veterinarian and two rich residents who made their money in America and then built it in Poland. A lot more people had motorcycles.

It was only in Edward Gierek's decade, i.e. the 1970s, that car ownership became common among Poles, and with it the possibility of going on vacation without standing in horribly crowded trains was associated with it.

The second car is the popular Maluch, i.e. Polski Fiat 126p (produced in 1972-2000).
