On the backrest of the rest bench there is a short text that explains the name of the nearby forest: the Wannelappersbos.
In three lines (one sentence) you will be given a number of old Flemish words:
“A winnower braids and mends
winnowing with erasing or wimping
grown in Wijmeniers or Wiedeuwen."
A wan is a (flat) woven basket with which farmers separated wheat from chaff (for the people of Ghent: cf. the name of the - now taken over and renovated - public café on the corner of HeiligKerst/'t Seleskest: De Wan).
Wissen or Wijmen are willows, the flexible one-year-old willow shoots used to weave baskets.
A Wijmenier or a wiedauw is a place where wicker grows.
