In the Willemsbos near Hulshorst is the Nieuw Horstmeer, better known as the Aortjes Huus. This workers' cottage has been completely isolated and abandoned in the forest since 1895. The current manager André Hop is a descendant of Aortje Hop, who lived here until 1965. Originally the cottage was built by Willem van Vloten for his forest workers. Why Aortje went to live there with her family is not entirely known, but it will not have been out of luxury. Source: nunspeet.nu/het-favoriete-plekje-van-marc-konings
