FR Initially the village of Goudes was a small port and an industrial site. The first factory was built in 1804 and artificial soda was manufactured there from sulfuric acid. Then in 1854 a lead factory was put into operation (destroyed in 1879 following the crisis in the sector). In 1875 the industrial potential was such that a tram line was built and in 1891 its final terminus established at Madrague de Montredon. Thanks to the tramway, some boaters built very basic dwellings there which quickly took the name of “sheds”.
Beyond the industrial and "pleasure" past, this district also has military remains such as the Fortin des Goudes erected in the 19th century and the Saint-Lucien Chapel built in the 20th century.
Les Goudes remains an authentic district despite its significant tourist attraction. Today a grocery store as well as fish restaurants provided by local fishermen remain.
To fully enjoy the village, it is advisable to enjoy a good meal in one of its restaurants and for the more adventurous, a swim in the outer harbor or at Cap Croisette near Ile Maïre.
