The Seerosenschlatt is again a place that has not made it to Wikipedia (or say in W. ??) ...
The Seerosenschlatt is located in a moving dune area west of Engelmannsbäke, surrounded by a small birch and bog forest, not far from the Kokenmühle. The 70 x 100 m large Schlatt is a post-glacial spring with flat moor development. The white water lily has settled here. Because of the marshy ground, the biotope must not be entered. As a habitat for many endangered plant species it is under nature protection (thuelsfelder-talsperre.de/Region/24651-Emstek-Garthe---Seerosenschlatt.html).

Schlatt's standing, mostly drained, small-scale ponds that are fed by surface water, the water is dammed by a water-retaining layer.
In the district of Diepholz, the "Nature Conservation Foundation" has made a contribution to the conservation of Schlatts as part of a "slaughter program". In voluntary cooperation with landowners and farmers, more than 300 small bodies of water / slaughter are rehabilitated and cared for in order to preserve them as habitats for rare animal and plant species.

How the Schlatt originated can be seen on an informative sign. Anyway: it has a very romantic and natural look.

The water lily gorge is probably the most surprising highlight on our hike. It has a wonderful atmosphere that invites you to linger and relax.
