In the park de Renesse there is an ice cellar, built in 1835.[5] It was used to store ice throughout the year. In the past, residents of Oostmalle were also allowed to come and get ice if they could show a doctor's note. The ice cellar is now a habitat for bats and is managed by Natuurpunt Voorkempen. The cellar has been protected as a monument since 2003.[6]
