Top cycling routes to Boudewijn Canal

Tips

  • The Boudewijn Canal was dug between 1896 and 1905. It was then called: Canal Brugge-Zeebrugge. In 1953 the canal was renamed the Boudewijn Canal, on the occasion of the visit (in 1951) of King Baudouin. It runs through the entire port area of Bruges-Zeebrugge and connects the Zeebrugge outer port with the Bruges inner port. It also offers Zeebrugge an inland shipping connection via the Bruges ring canal and the Ghent-Bruges canal. Over its total course it is approximately 12 kilometers long and is located entirely within the city limits of Bruges.

  • The beautiful wide towpath allows many to enjoy the Boudewijn Canal. Know that it can be busy here. Enjoy together, each at their own pace.
