The cross stands on the Reinsfeld district (Am Beitelstein Department 3a / 3b) on the old footpath between Reinsfeld and Sauscheid and has the following meaning: Here at this point, Thomas Becker from Gusenburg was fatally struck by lightning on September 19, 1883. He was 46 years old. The old oak memorial cross had rotted and lost over the years. On March 17th, 1999, Hermann Philipps from Reinsfeld, with the support of the pensioners' wandering group: Revierforster Martin Ritter, Reinhold and Ernst Eiden, Karl Raul, Alfred and August Stüber, Erich and Ottmar Schömer, Bernhard Göden, Heinz Schu, Hermann Müller, Norbert Weber and Heinz Zwernemann , created this oak cross with copper roof and placed it here. On May 27th, 1999 the memorial was supplemented by a resting bench. On August 19th, 2015 the local history researcher Günter Dellwo from Gusenburg restored an almost 100-year-old cross with a 30cm metal body and attached it to the Sauscheider cross. The cross comes from the joiner's workshop Johann Dellwo from Gusenburg. (* 10.12.1862 +27.02.1943) Source: Text information board

“Each of these crosses can tell its own story and what prompted people to erect“ their ”cross at this point. (...) These crossroads have been erected as visible signs and attract the looks of many people. The cross is a symbol of life. It stands as a sign of our Christian hope and wants to direct our gaze to Jesus Christ, who overcame death (...). The cross is part of our life, just as it was part of the life of Jesus. So I wish that many people ... visit the crossroads, whether as places of silence and breathing before God, whether as places of congregation meeting, prayer and praise of God. "

There is a description on the cross that explains the story.
