Head south on the main Ardmore road for a couple of hundred metres to find the round tower.

This tower was built in the 12th century and is one of the best preserved examples in Ireland. Round towers were built by monks of the early monasteries as a place of refuge in the case of an attack! It certainly does not look like a comfortable place to wait out an attack!

The site certainly make a spectacular sight with the blue waters of Ardmore bay in the background.
