Hidden between the many small and winding alleyways, the facades expand suddenly to a place with a Mediterranean-like flair.
Around the Wittelsbacher fountain there is a lot of hustle and bustle in the small shops and the many sidewalk cafes. There's a lot to discover...The well was created in 1555 as a 'Schöpfbrunnen'. The reason for this was the construction of the first water pipe from the Innstadt.
The fountain was crowned with the so-called "Brunnenliendl" - a late gothic figure with a coat of arms in his right hand and a lance with a flag in the other. (Source: regiowiki.pnp.de/wiki/Wittelsbacherbrunnen_(Passau))
