A beautiful, but sad and evocative place. The village here was once thriving with 29 people in residence in 1841, but by 1871 just seven remained as the majority of villagers had died during the Great Famine. Keep going right to the end of the trail to find the ruins.

Great hike, thanks for the tip. We did the tour in May 2024 and were alone despite the good weather. The area around the high plateau is great and the abandoned houses are very interesting.
