HUNGERBURGBAHN
The interplay of various opposites makes Innsbruck something special. Alpine - urban, nature - culture, history - modernity, home-loving - cosmopolitan are some of the attributes of the "capital of the Alps". Hardly any other facility combines all of these keywords more than the Nordkette cable cars: They connect the city with nature, interwar buildings by Franz Baumann with modern architecture by Zaha Hadid and bring locals and tourists from all over the world up the mountain quickly.
The Nordkette cable cars run in three sections from the city center to the Hafelekar at 2,300 m (funicular to the Hungerburg, panoramic gondolas to the Seegrube and further to the Hafelekar). An important part of these railways is the Hungerburg cable car, which runs from the city center to the Hungerburg district on a plateau. For ten years, the stations have been a prime example of avant-garde modern architecture in Innsbruck and the technical implementation of the cable car is a masterpiece.

The Hungerburgbahn to the Nordkette starts here at the congress center in the middle of the city. From here to Hungerburg it is a funicular. At the Hungerburg to the Seegrube you change to a gondola lift.
