This locality takes its name from an ancient canal that connected the San Bernardino canal with the Tortolo canal, now disappeared, which joined the Calmo canal.
It borders the territory of San Donà di Piave and Torre di Mosto.
In 1923, a first shack-church was built, dedicated to Saints Titian and Virgil. The faithful of the vast agricultural area, made fertile thanks to the reclamation works that began at the end of the 1800s and completed after the Great War, later wanted to build a real church.
