    Todor Kirkov was born on October 28, 1847 in Lovech. His birthplace is in the hamlet Dolniya krai, behind the hunting temple Sveta Bogoroditsa. The eldest of Stoyan Konov and Kenna Drasova's six children. He studied at the "Dolnokraj School" in the old part of town "Varosha" with teachers Yanko Hristov and Nikola Kovachev. He works as a tailor and bartender.

    Under the influence of his maternal relative Ivan Drasov, he joined the national revolutionary struggle. He emigrated to Wallachia in 1875.
