The section from Schwelm to Gevelsberg, which leads through the former Schwelm railway tunnel and is located in the Linderhausen district, is the first completed section for the cycle path from Ruhr to Wupper as a connecting route to the Nordbahntrasse and was used in World War II as a bomb-proof production facility for repairs and maintenance, among other things used by fighter planes. The tunnel was built in 1879 and is 742 meters long. The tunnel and its surroundings are also very interesting for geologists due to the rock layers and for cyclists in this region it is a must for a detour or a tour and when the next section from Gevelsberg West to Silschede is completed a beautiful cycle path through the region!
