This museum occupies the site of the old Asland cement factory, located in the Clot del Moro, in Castellar de n'Hug. The factory operated from 1904 to 1975, taking advantage of both the nearby limestone resources and the energy provided by the nearby Llobregat River.

In the vicinity of the factory, various buildings were built to house both the company managers and the American and English engineers who were here for a while, as well as a school.

From an architectural point of view, the factory is a singular work, built in the modernist style, in which the construction technique of the "volta catalana" (flat brick vault) and wrought iron structures stand out.
