The hiking trail begins/ends below the transmission/radio masts at Pileta. It leads over stone/earth paths down to Agaete, right through the charming landscape at the Roque de las Chobicenas, which is characterized by spurge plants and cacti. There are no views of the Barranco here because you are on the other side of the mountain. Still very scenic and recommended - and a nice alternative to the road. Shortly before Agaete you get a good view of the Malpais archaeological site and you get back on the GC231, which you follow into the town.
