What is peculiar about this bridge is the way it moves: when it is opened, the entire superstructure of the bridge with a bridge deck measuring 15 × 15 × 0.5 meters is lifted out of the abutments and swings upwards on two cantilevered girders around a horizontal axis, which rotates 45° in opposite directions the road axis is rotated next to the road. When fully opened, the bridge deck next to the passage rises vertically, thus providing unlimited passage height. As it lowers, the bridge appears to “merge” back into the road.
