The Liskamm in the Valais Alps, with its mighty ridge several kilometers long, having its highest points in the eastern (4,533 m) and lower western summit (4,479 m). The distance between the two peaks is over a kilometer. The summit ridge crowns the almost 1000 m high, ice-armored north-east face above the Gorner Glacier. On the south side, the crest of the summit rises up to a height of 500 m above the Lys glacier, which is severely torn and extends far down into the Gressoney valley.
