Takua Pa's "Old Town" is a small, peaceful ("sleepy"?) place with several beautiful, colorful Sino-Portuguese-style houses. Most of these houses are still owned by the families who lived here when Takua Pa was a thriving commercial center. The place used to be an up-and-coming mining town and an important tin mining area in the first half of the 20th century.
