A very nice hike of medium difficulty, can be done all year round, but in the winter months it should be noted that it is not frozen, especially in the forest where it goes up and down quite steeply, hiking poles are recommended. Sure-footedness must be present. There are very nice viewpoints all around the hike. There are always benches along the way. The view of the Alps, especially of the Rigi, you can also see the Pilatus in the distance was a dream for the eyes and soul. However, in general, the view down to Lake Zug is beautiful along the entire route. If the weather cooperates.I found the following highlights of the hike to be:
- A beautiful tour route with everything you need. (uphill and downhill)
- Excellent views down to the Alps and Lake Zug.- At the Gisikon-Root train station you can get food before or after the hike, or even when you have reached the top in Michaelskreuz there is a very nice restaurant. Please note the opening hours of the restaurant.FYI: Always pay attention to the weather first. I had snow in the forest and also ice due to the cold and additionally chopped off trees on the way, and that made the hike even more challenging. (See photo in this regard) Advantage for those trekking poles if you have them with you.Sure-footedness and fitness must be present.Important: This tour starts directly at the car park at Gisikon-Root train station (charges apply) for the whole day you pay CHF 5.00FYI: Moderate hike
Difficulty level: T1 (hiking)
