Home of the South Pole Inn, named after polar explorer Thomas Crean who hails from the small village of Annascaul. Beautifully set on the foothills of the Slieve Mish mountains it is right on the Dingle Way so there are plenty of places to pick up food and drink.

This iconic white and blue building is an absolute must-stop for every cyclist on the Wild Atlantic Way. The pub was opened in 1920 by Tom Crean, the Irish polar explorer who survived three legendary expeditions to Antarctica with Scott and Shackleton. Inside, the atmosphere of heroic discoveries hangs in the air, with walls full of photos and memorabilia from his voyages to the South Pole. A unique place full of history to catch your breath in the heart of Annascaul, before you pedal again towards the rugged coast or the mountains of Dingle.
