• In 1965, sand and gravel were dug from the quarry. The quarry was mined in four phases, starting in the southern part. • In the 1980s, the area of the second phase (4 hectares), located immediately northeast of the first phase, was used for the disposal of paper sludge that was residual waste from paper manufacturing. This layer of paper sludge is eight to thirty meters thick, has a hard top layer, but the underlying sludge has only limited carrying capacity.

• In the 1990s, development ended in the area of the third phase, the area north of the first phase and northwest of the second phase.

• In 2006, the permit for excavation expired and the quarry was decommissioned

• In September 2014, a new permit was obtained to further excavate the quarry for a period of eight years. The company must complete the quarry in the following year.
