Hiking

Lauscha station has a special significance. Since the height of the Rennsteig was not easy to climb by train, Lauscha station was designed as a hairpin bend station. All trains had to "turn around". This meant that the train reversed after the passengers got off. The locomotive moved to the other end of the train and pushed the train back to the platform for the onward journey.
Unfortunately, the building is no longer used and is not in good condition.
