Story
Wetzhausen Castle was built in the 14th century at the earliest. According to legend, a golden chain was walled into its foundations in order to be able to pay for the costly renovation in the event of the building threatening to deteriorate.
The castle was destroyed during the Peasants' War and reconstruction took place at various times up until the 18th century. At that time it is described as an estate consisting of two castles within a kennel with eight roundels and a wide moat.
