The first church is mentioned in 1526. It is believed that it was built in the 16th century. at the end it belonged to the evangelical reformers, because the owner of Onuškis palivark in 1611 returned it to the Catholics. in 1655 the church burned down. in 1673 there was a parsonage and a new shelter. The church was rebuilt after 1674. in 1797 she was very old and battered, in 1820 slightly repaired, 1823 collapsed. In the same place in 1823-1829. the present brick and stone masonry church was built by the care of landlord K. Šetkevičius. Residents asked for Lithuanian services, but in 1832 the commission appointed by the bishop found that the parishioners speak Lithuanian at home, but pray in Polish, so Lithuanian services are not needed. They were only partially started from 1893. 20th century in the beginning Kipras Petrauskas was the organist here for a while. 1927-1939 was pastored by Kazimieras Čibas. He took care of parishioners' sobriety, religious and cultural progress, carefully managed the parish farm. 1939-1953 Nicodemus Švogžlys-Gilžinas was pastor here.
The church is late classicism, has romanticism features, hall, rectangular plan, with a portico of 6 Doric columns. Interior of 3 naves. Cylindrical vaults are supported by 4 pairs of columns. The churchyard is surrounded by a fence of stone masonry and brick columns. It has a wooden bell tower. In Šventoris in 1993 June 14 buried the signatory of the Act of Independence of Lithuania, 1941 the remains of exile Donatas Malinauskas, his wife and sister (who died in Altai).
