Whoever approaches this point stands on a mountain, all Royal Saxon triangulation stations stand on hilltops. Recommended descent towards Leisnig / Paudritzsch in the Mulde valley 7.8 km long and approx. 190 m altitude. It's just fun, on the new bike path about 1 km behind the "cross".

Station No. 100 Kreuz is a 2nd order station of the triangular network of the Royal Saxon Triangulation and was implemented due to road construction work. In the 19th century, the optical measuring devices were fixed on the monolith in order to locate other stations for surveying purposes. Most of these technical monuments are still preserved and as they all stand on hilltops they always offer a great view of Saxony as a destination.

From this station, the 1st order No. 17 (Rochlitz) and the 2nd order No. 98 (Reichenbachhöhe), No. 99 (Erlau), No. 101 (Wetterhöhe), No. 103 (Eichardshöhe), No. 107 (Deditzhöhe) and No. 108 (Ballendorf). The Saxon triangle network is considered a technical masterpiece of degree measurement, in its time it was the most precise land survey in Europe.

Unfortunately, the view from the stone is a bit poor. But if you brave the road across the roundabout, a great view opens up to the north and west. Following the street to the left of the former Chausseehaus, the view opens towards the SW.
