Neusalza-Spremberg with OT Friedersdorf (approx. 3,200 inhabitants together) is located directly on the state border DE/CZ (Oberlausitzer Bergland/Schluckenauer Zipfel).The Spree flows through the place. Between Sternberg and Hutzelberg its course is wildly romantic for a good one kilometer, the area is called "Neusalza-Spremberger Spreepark". A hiking trail runs right along the river bank. The nature is very reminiscent of the Gröditzer or Georgewitzer Scala.
